Woman in Custody after Pursuit of Stolen Car

Monday, 19 May 2014

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office has a woman in custody after a short pursuit of a stolen car.  Around 2:40 Monday afternoon, a KCSO officer recognized a car stolen this morning from a convenience store on Central Avenue Pike.  It was speeding and weaving through heavy traffic on I-40.  The woman, who was driving, exited on Gallaher View with the officer pursuing her to Middlebrook.  The pursuit ended on Papermill when other officers boxed in the car and the woman was taken into custody.  The incident had traffic blocked for almost an hour on Papermill.

The car, a 2005 Subaru Imprez, was stolen when it was left in front of the Weigel’s with the engine running about 9 a.m. as the owner ran into the store for a few minutes.
