Purse Snatcher Surrenders

Monday, 13 June 2011

Media Coverage of a woman who knocked another woman down and grabbed her purse prompted the thief to turn herself in Sunday afternoon.  Twenty-five year old Stacey Foringer, who also goes by the last name of Sexton, is being held in the Knox County Jail on a $10,000 bond for robbery.

On Thursday, June 9th, Foringer grabbed the purse of an 83 year old woman dragging her to the ground in front of the Food City on Emory road.  Foringer ran into a waiting car which head north on Clinton Highway.  Store employees treated the victim for abrasions to her hand and knee.

Publicity about the incident compelled Foringer to turn herself in and confess to the crime.  She has a previous criminal history of disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and driving without a license.
