Knox County Woman Arrested for Child Neglect

Wednesday, 03 August 2011

A woman was arrested on Monday, August 1st for Child Neglect, after neighbors discovered a two year old child home alone in her house that morning. Twenty-nine year old Amy Gann of Knox County was babysitting the child at her home, when she left the residence with the child locked in an upstairs bedroom by himself.

Witnesses saw the child beating on the window and crying, and after several attempts to make contact with someone in the home, discovered a back door unlocked. They found the child in the upstairs bedroom alone, and called E-911 at approximately 10:30 am. The Knox County Sheriff's Office Family Crisis Unit responded, as well as DCS. When Ms Gann returned to her residence, she was placed under arrest. Her bond was set at $2,000. The child's mother told authorities that she had found Gann's babysitting ad placed on Craig's List and had thought she was a reputable babysitter.
