Naked Man Evades Police by Hiding in Storm Drain

Tuesday, 09 August 2011

Knox County Deputies arrested a man Tuesday morning for public indecency.  Officers responded to Lyons Creek Baptist Church at 9235 Strawberry Plains Pike shortly after 10 a.m. where the pastor said that a man ran through the parking lot with no clothes on and jumped into the storm drain.  The suspect, identified as 50 year old David Ford of High Avenue, told officers that he was injured.  The Knox County Rescue Squad was able to pull him out.  Ford refused all medical treatment and stated that he had been running all day from the police for breaking into a business earlier that morning.

An East Knox County business was broken into this morning, but nothing was taken.  Officers responded to Backstage Gifts at 532 Andrew Johnson Highway around 5:45.   A side door glass was shattered and a rear door kicked in.  A white Ford pick-up truck was parked at a next door business and may have been used to ram the side door.  The truck was recovered as evidence and could have been used in another burglary.  The break-in is under investigation.
